A Vauxhall Adam (as an case) is approximately 1000kg. People tin safely elevator effectually 20kg (although this varies depending upon how high you are lifting). Then yous'd need around fifty people. If you aren't too concerned about health and safety then people can lift much more, around 50-80kg – meaning effectually 12 people could lift a auto.

Cars in the United kingdom vary between about 850kg – 2000kg. Let's take the boilerplate so ane,450kg.
If you lot catch the underside of a motorcar and lift that's similar to a weightlifting 'deadlift' position. A quick google search suggests an untrained 75kg homo can deadlift effectually 63kg.
So you would need 1450kg/63kg = approximately 23 people.

There is as well a method called "bouncing" which involves fewer people than what Stephen Jeapes has calculated to move a auto. They will concord the underside of the motorcar and both rock it side to side and half lift information technology upward. Getting the right timing will 'wobble' the auto out of the mode equally well. Firefighters sometimes employ this method (simply it's not best practice!) to movement parked cars out of the mode so they can get their large burn down engines downwards narrow streets.

      I!

A good engineer will find a better style of lifting a motorcar than getting a number of people around it and risking injury.

Hydraulic jack – one person to pump the handle
      Crane – one operator
Inflatable air bag (used to re-right lorries that have tipped over) – i, perchance two people if it's a big truck!
Lever – long lever with a water bag on the other stop, gradually fill the water bag and see the motorcar rising (one person)
Helicopter – ok, 2/iii people; the pilot and a person in the back to guide the airplane pilot in, and a person on the footing to claw up the harness.

We tried information technology in loftier schoolhouse 🙂

I did a car mechanics apprenticeship before Uni. Took 6 people at the rear side and 10 in the front. The car was 1000Kg approx and nosotros couldn't hold it "in the air" for very long merely we made it! Not very unlike from what Stephen calculated indeed.

Remember a very stiff guy who could lift a automobile's engine with his blank easily. I wouldn't encourage people on taking these challenges today. Health and safety first!

I would say ane, if you use a hydraulic jack or a crane, but information technology tin can even be nothing if yous get a robot to practise it for you! 😉

Based on a weight of approx. an average metropolis auto around 1000kg. People can lift effectually 20-25kg safely, but many can lift a lot more than that (Not RECOMMENDED) and then it could take twenty people to lift a vehicle or maybe fifty-fifty v or ten people if each of those people could lift 2 or four times their recommended corporeality.
